Review - Sidi Vertigo Goretex boots

A chap's first pair of boots will be an important moment. Your helmet, gloves and boots form the holy trinity of things you should spend as much as possible on because they are the sensitive bits that tend to do worst if something goes wrong. Good boots are especially important if you do a lot of urban riding as some cyclists, and people in cars seem to forget that the fleshy bits on the ends of your legs aren't for riding over.

As with most motorcycling gear there is almost no upper limit on what you can spend on boots but I was planning on trying to get something decent for about the £150 mark. This didn't work out really, as I ended out spending a little more (£189) on some Sidi Vertigo Goretex boots, but I'm not upset in the slightest.

I had to order the boots in (due to my clown feet) and so spent a bit of time talking to the chaps in the shop about what I needed the boots for, and what I wanted out of them. The extra £30 or so above what I was planning to spend would get me something made out of Goretex, lovely breathable Goretex thus keeping my feet dry and not making them all horrible and sweaty.

The boots work brilliantly, and after a whole day of riding they are still comfortable. I've even been caught in a couple of storms while out riding and while the rest of my body got absolutely soaked (I was caught out by the English weather and I'd forgotten how much rain drops hurt on exposed skin when you are traveling at 70mph) my feet were snug and dry.

So these are excellent boots, I'll be interested to see how they hold up in the winter but as a pair of well armoured, snug and yet not too hot summer boots I think they are brilliant and I'd recommend them to friends and complete strangers on the internet.
